On-line education changes the way we think of college life 2019

In the past, traditional universities dismissed online education. As society approaches the future, the popularity of persuing an education opposite that of traditional schools has increased. This year online course enrollment will reach approximately 1.7 million students, that is triple those that enrolled in 2017. Nearly 10% of all students enrolled in college or a university will be enrolled in an online school. The University of Phoenix was the countrys first online university in 1989. As students continue to enroll in online colleges and universities, officials are expecting many new on-line schools to open. Online education is a great way to give additional education support, said Bill Pepicello, president of the University of Phoenix. Some of the large colleges and universities will reinvent themselves to get in the online market. The University of Phoenix is successful because it takes access to education to levels that a traditional colleges do not provide. Approximately 300 thousand students are attending either online or at one of the over 190 University of Phoenix campus locations, officials say. .ufc9e619622e88d243878deae0b98e1e1 { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .ufc9e619622e88d243878deae0b98e1e1:active, .ufc9e619622e88d243878deae0b98e1e1:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .ufc9e619622e88d243878deae0b98e1e1 { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .ufc9e619622e88d243878deae0b98e1e1 .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .ufc9e619622e88d243878deae0b98e1e1 .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .ufc9e619622e88d243878deae0b98e1e1:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ How to find the Perfect Part Time JobOnline education allows a greater number and diversity of classes to be offered, because online courses arent constrained by time or location, Pepicello said. In some instances, online education enchances class-size issues, because some students may not be able to physically attend class but can attend the class online. The University of Phoenix is also an excellent option for those who do not wish to attend traditional colleges or universities. Its more productive for some types of students, notably those who perform better with a more diverse schedule where time and location is not an issue, Pepicello said. A group that most on-line universities and colleges call their bread and butter are those students that are considered non-tranditional students by other college and university institutes. There is not a standard profile for a University of Phoenix online student, other than they will be more tech savvy as a whole, Pepicello said. .u1fd080ece9e647c77bcf405a75f66258 { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:#eaeaea; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #34495E!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -o-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.17); text-decoration:none; } .u1fd080ece9e647c77bcf405a75f66258:active, .u1fd080ece9e647c77bcf405a75f66258:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; text-decoration:none; } .u1fd080ece9e647c77bcf405a75f66258 { transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; } .u1fd080ece9e647c77bcf405a75f66258 .ctaText { font-weight:bold; color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-size: 16px; } .u1fd080ece9e647c77bcf405a75f66258 .post Title { color:#000000; text-decoration: underline!important; font-size: 16px; } .u1fd080ece9e647c77bcf405a75f66258:hover .postTitle { text-decoration: underline!important; } READ The Development of Information TechnologyAccusations have surfaced of online program being degree factories and providing attending students with below standard educaiton. Feminism Is The Organized Activity On Behalf Of Women s...

Everyone Deserves Respect Throughout history, there have been many groups of women called feminists, which are women who support feminism. In history class, you hear about active feminists and their rebellions, but what does feminism mean exactly? â€Å"Feminism is the organized activity on behalf of women’s rights and interests† (Webster). Feminists strive for equal rights for women in politics, society, and workforce. Karen Kornbluh and Rachel Homer are two feminist writers who wrote an article, â€Å"Paycheck Feminism†, and discussed five main points for the government to refer to which would help them create equal policies for men and women. The main goal for feminism is to have respect for women in the workforce by having equal pay, same occupation opportunities as men, and to have the same public confidence in an occupation as men. Naturally, women strive for equal pay in the workforce compared to men. In history we learn that decades ago, women were paid less than men for laborious work. Many women were maids or nannies and had very low pay but were up on their feet all day working. However, in the present, women want more than just an equal paycheck. They want equal policies as well. Feminists are urging the government to equal the Social Security pay, health care costs, unemployment aid, and Medicare. According to Kornbluh and Homer, men get $14,055 annually and women extract $10,685 annually in Social Security while women make up fifty-percent of the workforce today. A day … in the life Free Essays

I wake with a constant mix of white noise acoustic guitar and the tortured lyrics of two broken men. This noise bleeds in through my ears. Why? Without it would I even know if I was awake? After the humdrum morning routine, philosophical conversation with Clo on the way to the bus stop and the inevitable journey on wonderful public transport I arrive at school. We will write a custom essay sample on A day †¦ in the life or any similar topic only for you Order Now School this eternal lapse between comfort zones and paranoia. Comfort zones the lessons and places I’m comfortable in where I can really be me. Like drama selling line after line. I stretch the truth like a crooked sales man lie like a cheap Italian watch, showing all my emotions by portraying others. Some thing that is now so natural like I was born with it like the ability to breath. Paranoia, looking over my back makes me feel weak like a one armed boxer throwing punch after punch, after punch I’m so tired I give in I’ m surprised when they duck. Sometimes I get so tired of getting out of bed but who would want to die like a cowardly little child? The doctors tell me there is nothing wrong with me so why do I get so full of anger, regret, and hatred? I got a trigger inside! Who doesn’t know how to pull it? In the last year school has become easier but only slightly. The new found ease is all down the beautiful and profound idea of â€Å"options† being able to leave dull subjects behind in search of ones more to your interests making my life easier and the whole year generally happier. I’m not saying after options it all becomes perfect over night because schools still have the same problems as before the ones that schools pretend aren’t there. But as we all know the future is more important than the present and my future will be a very bright and shinny one in fact my future will be orange. I see one supposed upside to school seeing my friends and my actual friends. There are some people who I really like and others I have nil time or respect for but I play politics. Who needs enemies? My real friends are the ones I know I can trust, the ones that I conclude to make school worth attending. The rest of the people I am seen with at school are all sort of bellow my level sort of unaware of the wonderful world we live in and all its great events that are there to bring peace love and enjoyment to our day. Don’t get me wrong most of them are wonderful people but pay some attention the world does not revolve around your friends and your love life. My dream in life is to be a business man, actor, film maker, and comedian. Comedy is some thing that seems to come very naturally to me I love to make others laugh. I have always had a very mature sense of humor I am very into satire and those sketches with ridiculous but some how believable situations. I like my entertainment to be of quality but to also have a message. When people ask what I want to be I always tell them I want to be an international man of mystery. The only person who really knows what I’m talking about is me. I want to be an entertainer but that is all I want to be I don’t want the following or the paps outside my door when I go to collect my milk or if I have left something in the car. I guess what I’m trying to get is simply this, I want to entertain people weather that be with business and product or film, comedy or television I also want the fortune ( a man needs to eat) the notoriety but not to be a brand. Do I ask for to much? Can I do it? Have I got it in me? I hope so. I would I have to admit that I do actually quite enjoy school but I also like the occasional sneaky day off with a â€Å"head ache†. The subjects I enjoy tend to be the ones were you get free reign over what you do like English no one tells you how much to write or how or what. I also like my computer based subjects I. C. T and digital applications I also enjoy science but not as much as I used to there’s me thinking it would get better in year 10. But no! Were doing reports. Not good. But no matter how much I enjoy school I enjoy after school ten times more being allowed to take one hour in walking one mile that feels like a gift to me. Being able to just collapse and eat sleep and eat and watch the endless black hole of programmes made by and for severely brainless people on television. Go on my laptop, download applications that I don’t actually need, music that I won’t listen to unless iTunes shuffles to it, films I wont watch and television programmes that I want to watch when â€Å"I† want to. Although I take pleasure in my times after school with freedom, Saturday is the most important day of the week the ultimate day of freedom no bed times no rules eat what I like do what I like go where I like with who I want to do it with no obligation to see anyone. At the moment most of my weekends are spent with my wonderful girlfriend and vision of beautiful perfection April. She’s the kind of girl makes life worth living its fun what ever we do as long as were together Some times I just look into her eyes and I know I’m happy well more like contented no desire to move or do anything else than to just look into her eyes . Our time together is more precious than diamonds or gold it is invaluable to me. Some times I pinch my self just to make sure its not dream. When I first met April I was in town with a friend I only went because I was told that I was to meet a girl. When I arrived outside McDonalds to meet my friend Heather who was the only one of this random constructed group I had ever laid eyes on before that. Sure I had spoken to April online but never seen her in the flesh and who where the others witch part of obscurity where they plucked from? and then I saw April she looked simply irresistible like a Hollywood beauty queen of old but like all Hollywood queens she had her entourage featuring her two best friends one either side her. Heather introduced us I said Hey and waved at her. She almost did exactly the same but after the wave came a smile that melted my heart that moment triggered shy mode: my hand snapped straight into the pockets of my jeans, my shoulders tensed I dared not do or say anything. 30 minutes, a solo trip to virgin and the stalking of two business men past the orange phone shop had passed before she spoke to me. She moved several paces away from her protection that eased me slightly so I took my hand out of my right pocket and lent it on her shoulder and said â€Å"so how are you? Then something trivial occurred witch distracted everyone so she cut short answer, then a scruffy looking unemployed man I know that much about him because who else where’s camouflage jackets and buys a big Mac for breakfast? Looked straight at me then said something. At that point I took my arm off of her shoulder looked into her eyes and said confidently like it was a perfectly normal activity, April lets follow Him! We walked briskly behind him so that he noticed just to make a point. After finally thinking I could be alone with her and get know her better but alas cut short was our time alone as there was noise and a voice behind us as half her entourage caught up. But that didn’t matter because at that point she took my and she has never let go. My usual Saturday activity is going into town spending my parent’s money on food and junk that I don’t actually want or need. This is called shopping or giving into to money grabbing organizations when I could be saving this money and putting it towards something practical mainly an item of consumer electronics some thing I have a big affiliation with. People who enjoy consumer electronics as much as I do are labeled as techys a clever take on the word treckie the term for star trek fans. My few on electronics is simple there is always one that is greater than the others and one that sells more than the others never normally the same thing witch has to said is a shame. But on reflection I would actually rather be buying pointless stuff with friends in town than being all alone at home with a new gadget I can’t win. To me a Sunday is the day of rest a lazy day to recover one from the activities of Saturday a wind down before restarting for school on the Monday. A day for big dinners, being old fashioned and staying at home with family, or going out. But all in all Sundays are generally for being lazy. I used to like walking into town Sundays even though no decent shops open it just seemed calmer and quieter like an arctic village or a sleepy Cotswold hamlet. I guess I’m just impressed at the transition between Saturday and Sunday. A day in the life of me it’s not really that bad. I suppose. How to cite A day †¦ in the life, Papers

Stanford Prison Experiment †Sociology 100 Paper

Stanford Prison Experiment – Sociology 100 Paper Free Online Research Papers Degradation at Our Expense Getting arrested is a very disturbing event for most people. Having the police come to your house to find you is even more disruptive to the human psyche. The events that occur during that particular event can have lasting negative effects. The procedures police use during arrests lead to people feeling degraded and dehumanized as well as angry, confused, and fearful. Having to endure that experience would probably be too much for me to handle personally. The rapport that police will have with the common person from that point on in their lives may be permanently changed or damaged due to how they were treated. During the arrest procedure in The Stanford Prison Experiment, the suspects were picked up at home, informed of why they were being arrested, searched on the police car in front of neighbors, and then driven away in the squad car with â€Å"sirens wailing† (prisonexp.org, 2009). This is the first reason why the procedure is disturbing. Having a group of police come to your residence, bust in the door if necessary, and drag you outside to complete their arrest procedure is downright humiliating, especially if your neighbors are watching. The police really do not care who sees them! Driving off with you in the backseat, sirens sounding, just adds to the feeling. All along the suspect thinks they are being charged with a violation of Penal Code 211, Armed Robbery, and Burglary, PC 459 (prisonexp.org, 2009), knowing in their heart that they did not commit any crime. The worst part is that the crime was never actually committed; this was all a ploy to see how far the suspects could be pushed or how much they could endure before they cracked, and how they will react for the rest of their journey . Next on the list of degrading acts by the â€Å"police† is when they arrive to the make-shift prison. Here the suspects are put through the whole normal booking procedure with a little extra; they are strip searched, hosed down for bugs, and given a smock-like dress to wear†¦..with nothing underneath. The prisoners were made to be completely humiliated by acting as if they had some awful germs by spraying them off, then had to wear garments that resembled dresses and be naked under them, and be shackled. Their whole persona would change, how they sat had to change so their private parts did not show, how they walked and carried themselves had to be adjusted, and they thought they were being marked as dirty, low-class, less than human citizens. How infuriating it must have been for these men. Heinous events continued to occur in the â€Å"prison† until it finally ended early after six days because of the abuse the men were receiving from the fake guards, and the conditions the men were being subjected to was unacceptable. The prisoners were informed that it had all been an experiment and just released and expected to go on living their lives as if nothing had ever happened. These prisoners still felt confused, fearful, degraded, and dehumanized due to what they had just been through. Will they always get that yucky feeling in their guts when they see a police car or hear a siren? Will their view of police change to negative if they have never been to a real prison because they have a vision in their head of how it is? Obviously in current times, this experiment would not occur. Ethically, it would not be allowed. It would be impossible to have unbiased results if the prisoners were told of the experiment previous to them being subjected to it. However, it would not get an approval due to the circumstances they out people in. Another factor is that people are more informed of their rights and will exercise those, even if it means when they are released. Lawsuits would be brought up and charges filed for mistreatment. Even the guards had to endure going against their morals at times and having to think that they had to almost fight for their lives so they used extreme force. For this to all be fake, it damaged many people. Those effects can last forever. On a personal level, I was arrested for something I did not know was going on, nor did I do. The police came to my house, broke down my door, cuffed everyone in the house, including my son who was twelve at the time, accused me of all kinds of things that I did not do, threatened to have my son taken away-right in front of him, made a mess of my car and house, and hauled me out in cuffs to jail. They did not care who saw me, who they damaged, who was really telling the truth, or what personal property they ruined. All they were interested in was making an arrest based on their search warrant and the charges filed against me. It was degrading and humiliating, not to mention horrifying and embarrassing. I had never been in trouble in my life for anything and have only gotten pulled over twice. This was over eight months ago and I still have issues; every time I hear cars outside my house, I get that bad feeling in my stomach, seeing a police car makes me nervous, and my son is just as bad. Luckily I got released that day. If I would have had to stay there for any amount of time, I think I would have gone crazy. It was dirty and the correctional officers speak to you like you are sub-human, including cussing and telling you that they do not care what you need or want. The saddest part about the whole experiment, or current situations, is that the future repercussions are not taken into account. The men they took in for the experiment back in 1971 might have really been bothered by the whole episode. They might have been permanently damaged and have a mild case of PTSD. Their families were affected as well by thinking that their loved one had actually committed some awful crime and knowing they were in abhorrent conditions. Being arrested and treated with such disrespect stays with you forever and leaves a bad taste In your mouth towards law enforcement, even with my son. Granted, police do good things, the bad things they do tend to stick in people’s minds and build a foundation as to how they will react in a situation. Some people are labeled as institutionalized and never recover from the circumstances they have had to deal with. Releasing them into society can have detrimental effects on everyone, including the individual. The relationsh ip between society and the individual then becomes a reciprocal one and they will react to the situation accordingly, whether it will have positive or negative consequences. How NOT to Go Crazy or 7 Essay Writing Hacks You Need to Overtake

How NOT to Go Crazy or 7 Essay Writing Hacks You Need to Overtake How NOT to Go Crazy or 7 Essay Writing Hacks You Need to Overtake If you are searching for essay writing hacks on how to write a paper, then look over the tips below. This style of writing does not actually alter the writing you do, but rather, has an influence on the format of the final piece you write. If the piece you are writing is something scientifically based, something that is research heavy, then you will need the following sections: Hack #1: Do Your Abstract Last It is common to want to get the shortest part of the essay writing done first, but don’t. You will get the work done faster if you wait until the end. Remember, this is a short, 200 to 300 word paragraph that serves as a complete summary of the entire piece you wrote, with approximately one sentence for each of the main sections. Hack #2: Write an Introduction at the End of the Line Save your introduction until you have finished the body content. Believe us, it will be much easier to write it after you have all the aces in your hand. Hack #3: Use Only Relevant Data When you provide your reader with background information, make sure it is relevant and that you review things which they will need only in order to better understand your argument. Hack #4: Explain Your Research in Detail When writing the methodology, explain what you did in your research and how you conducted it. You want this part of the work to be so detailed that someone reading it could recreate what you did exactly and find the same results. Hack #5: Show the Bigger Picture When you present your findings/results, don’t just say what they are. Explain how it fits into the bigger picture. Hack #6: Thoroughly Check Your Formatting Make sure to properly format each area of the work. You will lose more points on papers for improper format and layout than you will for the writing itself. If your content is not research based, and is merely a creative writing piece, then you do not need any of these headings or subheadings and instead can just format the title page and references in accordance with the requirements. That means you need your title, your name, and your university in the middle of the title page, centered in the page. Overall, following these simple hacks will help you to get your papers written, and done well. You will avoid losing grade points and will be able to submit your work with pride.

Is there a relationship between age and gender with PTSD symptoms - Research Paper Example Approximately more than two thirds of people within the general population may experience an axiological event of trauma within their lives with up to a fifth of persons living in the United States experiencing such an event in any year (Sandro, Arijit, & David, 2005). These events range from rape, motor vehicle accident, physical assault, and natural disasters. Events such as motor vehicle accidents, floods, terrorist attacks are traumatic events which many persons experience within their life and have the potential of precipitating into a wide array of physical and mental health disorders. For instance in a survey carried out united States residents, thirteen percent reported a lifetime exposure to human generated or natural disasters (Davidson, Hughes, & Blazer, 1991). PTSD is one of the most commonly studied and to a great extent, the most pleonastic and debilitating psychological disorder culminating from traumatic events. This has increased interest and attracted attention of p sychiatrists, psychologists, and interested researchers alike and is rapidly taking center stage when it comes to psychological disorders in the medical world. It is the sole intention of this paper to demonstrate how age and gender of persons relates to the occurrence of PTSD symptoms. It will focus on the difference in severity of PTSD symptoms in terms of gender and age. The study will target adult male and female persons ranging from thirty to sixty years and children ranging from six to twelve years. Another group will be included ranging from fifteen to twenty nine years composed of both male and female persons. Literature Review This study has been limited to research studies that were conducted between 1990 and 2008. Within this period there has been research events conducted as relates to PTSD but a profound absence of work that underscores the relationship between the severity of PTSD and the age and gender of persons. Therefore the bulk of the research seeks to investigat e this particular issue and give critical information contributing to the known facts as relates to PTSD. I have singled out pre-existing literature that contains critical information that is of great importance to this research event. One such article is the epidemiology of post-traumatic stress disorder after disasters (Sandro, Arijit, & Vlahov, 2005). It gives reliable epidemiological information that relates to PTSD symptoms and sets stage for a more conclusive and a much wider research effort to develop statistics of PTSD severity symptoms with relation to not only disaster but many other etiologies of PTSD. Although specific traumas have their effects well documented and established, many persons both in research and clinical settings have experienced more than a single traumatic event in their lives (Breslau, Chilcoat, Kessler, & Lucia, 1999). Of these persons, some report symptoms of PTSD that indicate the combined effects of two or more of these traumatic experiences as opp osed to mainly their latest trauma or the severest from of trauma they have been exposed to. There is an increasing amount of literature suggesting that the severity of a persons PTSD symptoms can be predicted by the lifetime number of traumas that an individual has experienced (Norris, 1992). These studies and cumulative trauma literature fail to give significant information
